David is a renowned fine art portrait photographer specialising in personal, natural light imagery for newborn, children and family portrait photography. His work has been described as timeless, elegant, unique, and more works of art than photographs.

Life as Art
Working by appointment from his Gallery in Unley, South Australia, David will take time to find out about you and design your shoot to best suit what you want, then capture a moment or two of life as art - through gentle window light at your home, strolling along the beach or rustling leaves and exploring parks and gardens.

With a limited number of photography sessions per month, David ensures personalised attention to provide the very best to his clients. Always searching for perfection and something unique from each portrait session keeps David's work sought after and truly appreciated.

With a relaxed, friendly manner and uncompromising attention to detail, many long term friendships with families have been made with full generations of children and family portraits created by this Adelaide photographer. David's work has been collected by clients in Australia, Canada, Europe, Asia and the USA.

30 Years of smiles
David's involvement in the professional photography industry has been extensive since beginning with weddings and portraits in 1980. Particularly recognised for his beautiful children's portraits and relaxed stylish wedding images, he has also photographed for stage and theatre, corporate portraits and personal portfolios covering travel destinations around the world.

Having a background as both photographer and printer in professional labs led David into hand creating new styles and finishes including handmade photographic papers in the darkroom days, and his unique "LightSketch"® art-pieces now available through his gallery.

Always learning and eager to help others while stretching new boundaries, David was one of the first photographers in Australia to embrace emerging digital technologies (for example digitising negatives and computer designing wedding albums since the early 1990's) and has had the honour to be President of the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers (AIPP) in South Australia.

While there have been awards and recognition from clients and industry, he is most proud of more down to earth moments.. First would always come his daughter and family, and then the simple thank you's and smiles from those he's met, photographed and worked with. (Even the occasional "offer" to "come and play at my place?" from some of the younger clients!)

David's main focus in business is now portraiture and travel... to create memorable and artistic images for others and see their expressions light up!

While based in Adelaide, David also photographs families interstate and is available for travel to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and overseas. Please contact for details or ask when he will be visiting your area.
